Restroom trailer, VIP cabin or deluxe unit: which fits my wedding?

A restroom trailer fits most wedding receptions, because guests get flush toilets, sinks, lights and climate control. A VIP cabin fits smaller weddings with a single private room. A deluxe flushing unit with a sink works when the venue has no power or water. Wedding restroom rental comes down to guest count, hours and utilities.

How many stalls do I need for my guest count?

Use guests times hours divided by 200 to get the number of stalls, then pick units with that many stalls. A 6-hour reception for 100 guests needs 3 stalls, which a 3-stall trailer covers. A 4-hour ceremony and reception for 60 guests needs 2 stalls. Open bars push the count up by about one.

Which venues need wedding restroom rental?

Venues without guest bathrooms need wedding restroom rental most: plantation grounds, marsh-front lawns, working farms and private estates on Lady's Island and St. Helena Island. Many old houses run on septic systems that cannot handle 100 extra guests in one evening. A restroom trailer keeps the house bathroom for the bridal party only.

Island estates bring two planning points. Lady's Island deliveries from downtown cross the Woods Memorial swing bridge, which does not open for boats during weekday rush hours; we route over the McTeer Bridge when needed. St. Helena estates down long sand lanes need a firm path for the truck and trailer.

Local tip Marsh-front lawns can flood on king tides, which come about six times a year in spring and fall. Pick a trailer spot above the high-water line and check the tide chart for your date.

Where should the restroom trailer go so guests can find it but photos stay clean?

Place the restroom trailer downwind of the dinner tables, out of the line of the ceremony and the photo backdrop, and within an easy walk of the dance floor. The trailer also needs level ground the truck can reach and a power outlet nearby. Walk the site with your planner and mark the spot with a flag.

  • Downwind of food and seating on the prevailing breeze
  • Behind the ceremony arch line and outside the photographer's main angles
  • Within about 100 steps of the reception so older guests do not walk far
  • Near a standard 110V/20-amp outlet and a garden hose
  • On level ground with a clear path for the truck and trailer

What about lighting after dark?

Restroom trailers have interior lights that run off the power hookup, so guests can see inside after sunset. The path to the trailer is the weak spot. Line the walk with lanterns, string lights or solar stakes, because Lowcountry lawns get dark fast under live oaks. Standard and deluxe units have no built-in lighting.

Ask your lighting vendor or planner to run one string of lights to the trailer steps. Steps with handrails are safer for guests in heels at night.

Do you provide a restroom attendant?

We do not provide restroom attendants. The units arrive fully stocked with paper, soap and towels for one wedding day. For a long reception, ask the planner, a coordinator or a family member to check paper and towels once during dinner. Spare rolls and towels can be left inside the trailer for the night.

Tell guests where the restroom trailer is with one small sign at the reception entrance. A clear sign keeps people from wandering into the house.

Questions customers ask

How much does a restroom trailer cost for a wedding?

A 2-stall restroom trailer starts from about $1,200 for an event weekend, and a 3-stall trailer from about $1,650, before tax. The trailer needs water and power at the site. Exact price depends on your ZIP and date.

Is a deluxe flushing unit enough for a small wedding?

A deluxe flushing unit with a sink starts from about $375 and works for small weddings when power and water are missing. The fresh-water tank is good for about 50 flushes, so larger guest lists need more than one.

What if the venue has no power for the trailer?

A restroom trailer needs a standard 110V/20-amp outlet nearby. If the venue has no outlet, a generator from your tent or lighting vendor can work, or deluxe flushing units can replace the trailer entirely.

When will the trailer be set up?

The trailer is set the day before the wedding, usually Friday for a Saturday event. The driver levels the trailer, hooks up water and power, and checks the lights before leaving. Pickup is Monday.

Can the trailer go on a grass lawn?

Restroom trailers sit fine on firm, level grass. Soft ground after heavy rain can be a problem, so we may place the trailer closer to a drive. Tell us about any irrigation lines or septic lids before delivery.

How early should we book wedding restrooms?

Book wedding restrooms as soon as the date is set, especially for spring and fall Saturdays. Restroom trailers book up before standard units do, and a set date lets us plan truck access with your venue.
