How does payment and 28-day billing work?

Porta potty rentals bill on a 28-day cycle, paid by card or by invoice for approved commercial accounts. A 28-day cycle is not prorated, so ending a rental on day 10 still bills the full cycle. Event rentals of up to 4 days bill once, with delivery and pickup on the quote.

Payment

  • Credit and debit cards are accepted, including company cards.
  • Invoice billing is available for approved commercial accounts.
  • Every rental has an e-signed rental agreement before delivery.

Renewals

Monthly rentals renew on their own at the end of each 28-day cycle until you call to end the rental. The card on file is charged, or a new invoice goes out, on the renewal date.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before delivery. A cancellation 48 to 24 hours before delivery gets a 50% refund. A cancellation inside 24 hours, or after a same-day truck has been dispatched, gets no refund, because the unit and truck are already committed to your job that day.

Moving your date instead of cancelling? Call as early as you can. A date change is easier to fit on a route than a new booking.

Who is responsible for placement and site access?

The renter is responsible for a placement spot on firm, level ground within about 25 feet of where the service truck can park. A standard unit is about 44 inches wide, so gates need about 48 inches. Gated communities need our company on the gate list before delivery day.

  • Mark the spot with a cone, flag or note. Nobody needs to be home if the spot is marked.
  • Keep the truck path clear of parked cars, low limbs and soft ground.
  • Get any permits, HOA approval or venue approval before the drop. Confirm with your permit office for public land.
  • Gate codes, vendor passes and base access are the renter's job to arrange.

If the driver cannot reach the spot safely, the unit goes in the closest safe place. A second trip to move it may be billed. Read our placement tips for sand and marsh ground.

What happens if a unit is damaged, burned or tipped over?

The renter pays for damage from fire, tipping, vandalism, graffiti or misuse while the unit sits on the renter's site. Normal wear is on us. Report damage the same day, because a tipped unit needs a cleanup visit, and a burned or broken unit must be replaced before it can be used again.

Damage the renter covers

  • Fire or melting from grills, fire pits, cigarettes or fireworks
  • Tipping from pushing, vehicles or moving the unit
  • Vandalism, broken doors and graffiti
  • Theft of the unit or its parts

Items that must never go in the tank

  • Paint, solvents, concrete, drywall mud or chemicals
  • Trash, bottles, cans, diapers and feminine products
  • Construction debris, rags and hand towels

Prohibited items can damage the pump truck and may add a cleanup charge to the invoice.

How do extra service and pickup work?

Extra service visits can be added any time a unit fills up faster than planned, and each extra visit is billed per visit. Pickup happens when you call to end the rental. The unit must be reachable by the truck on pickup day, or the rental keeps billing until it is.

  1. Call to end the rentalBilling stops at the end of the current 28-day cycle, not prorated.
  2. Clear the pathMove vehicles, materials and fencing away from the unit.
  3. Open the gateLeave the gate open or send the code before pickup day.
  4. Truck picks upThe unit leaves on the next route day.

Event units pick up Monday at no extra charge. Learn more about monthly rental service plans.

What happens during hurricanes and bad weather?

Austin Rental Works may pull, strap down or move units before a named storm reaches the coast. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. A unit pulled for safety is redelivered after the storm clears, and the rental keeps its place on the route once roads are open again.

  • We decide on pulls or straps based on the storm track and road safety.
  • Pull and redelivery for storm safety is not charged as a new delivery.
  • Storm damage to a unit we did not get to pull is handled case by case.
  • Rain alone does not cancel an event rental. The normal cancellation rules apply.

Does this page replace my rental agreement?

This page does not replace your rental agreement. This page sums up our rental terms in plain words. The e-signed rental agreement you get before delivery is the contract that governs your rental. If anything here differs from your signed agreement, the signed agreement controls, so read that agreement before you sign.

Questions customers ask

If I end my monthly rental halfway through the cycle, do I get money back?

A 28-day cycle is not prorated, so ending halfway through still bills the full cycle. The unit can stay on site until the cycle ends at no extra cost. Call a few days before the cycle date if you want the pickup timed with the end of billing.

Do I pay a fee if the driver can't get to my spot?

A second trip may be billed if the driver cannot reach the spot because of a locked gate, blocked path or soft ground. Mark the spot, open the gate and send any codes before delivery day to avoid a second trip.

What if somebody spray paints the unit?

Graffiti on a unit is billed to the renter, since the unit was on the renter's site. Report graffiti right away. Some paint comes off with cleaning, and some panels must be replaced, so the charge depends on the damage.

Can I move the porta potty myself after delivery?

Renters should not move a porta potty after delivery. A full tank is heavy and can spill or tip, and tipping damage is billed to the renter. Call dispatch, and a crew moves the unit safely on the next route day.

Will you take the unit away if a hurricane is coming?

We may pull or strap units before a named storm, based on the storm track. Pulled units come back after roads clear. Call dispatch if you want your unit pulled early so we can plan the route.

Can a business get invoiced instead of paying by card?

Invoice billing is open to approved commercial accounts. Ask dispatch about setting up an account when you book. Until the account is approved, the first rental is paid by card.
