How does a short-term porta potty rental work?
Short-term porta potty rental comes in two lengths: the event package for up to 4 days, and a 7-day option for projects that need a full week. The unit arrives clean and stocked, stays on your marked spot, and goes back on the truck on the agreed day. No 28-day cycle and no long agreement.
| Option | Length | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Event package | Up to 4 days (Friday to Monday) | Parties, reunions, church events, yard sales |
| 7-day rental | One week | Bathroom remodels, roof jobs, dock builds, moves |
| Longer than 7 days | Switches to the 28-day cycle | Projects that keep running |
Jobs that keep going roll into a monthly rental with weekly service.

Home projects with outside crews need a short-term rental most: bathroom remodels, roof replacements, flooring jobs and additions. Keeping workers out of the house protects floors and the family's privacy. A one-bathroom house with the bathroom torn out needs a unit from day one, not halfway through the remodel.

Historic district homes in Beaufort have narrow lots and side gates. A standard unit is about 44 inches wide, so a 48-inch gate is the practical minimum. Read the historic Beaufort remodel guide.
Can I rent a porta potty for a weekend DIY project?
A weekend DIY project fits the event package: drop on Friday, pickup on Monday, up to 4 days. Clearing a family lot, building a dock, cleaning out a barn or hosting a work day at church all qualify. One standard unit covers about 10 people working a full day without service.
- Lot clearing
- Dock and deck builds
- Barn clean-outs
- Church work days
- Moving weekends
- Yard sales
- Fence building
Mark the spot with a cone or ribbon on Friday morning, and you do not need to be home when the truck arrives.
What if my septic fails while house guests are staying?
A failed septic system during a family visit needs one standard unit in the driveway, often delivered the same day when you call by noon. Rent for the 7 days the septic contractor needs, or the event package if the repair is quick. Keep the unit away from the drain field and the pump truck's path.
- Place the unit on the opposite side of the house from the septic tank
- Leave the driveway open for the septic pump truck and any excavator
- Add a hand wash station if the kitchen sink is also off
- Consider a deluxe flushing unit with sink for older guests
Can I get the unit serviced during a 7-day rental?
A 7-day rental can include one extra service visit when a crew or a big family will use the unit heavily. A standard unit is rated around 200 uses between services. Four workers using the unit three times a day for five days is about 60 uses, so most short jobs do not need service.
| People | Uses per day | Days before about 200 uses |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 6 | 33 |
| 5 | 15 | 13 |
| 10 | 30 | 6–7 |
| 20 | 60 | 3 |
Where can a short-term unit go at a house?
A short-term unit needs firm, level ground within about 25 feet of where the truck can park, which usually means the driveway edge or a side yard. Avoid septic lids, irrigation heads and low limbs. On Lady's Island and St. Helena, sandy driveways firm up near the road, so place the unit closer to the street.
Backyard spots need a gate at least 48 inches wide. If the only path is a narrow side gate, the driveway is the better choice. Placement tips are on the standard porta potty page.
Questions customers ask
Can I rent a porta potty for just one day?
A one-day rental uses the event package, which covers up to 4 days at the same price. The unit drops the day before and leaves the next business day, so you never pay extra for having it a day early.
How much is a porta potty for a weekend?
A standard unit for a weekend starts from about $225 before tax, covering up to 4 days with delivery and pickup in Beaufort County. Exact price depends on ZIP, dates and quantity.
What if my remodel runs past a week?
Call dispatch before the week ends, and the rental switches to the 28-day cycle with weekly service. The unit stays put, so there is no second delivery.
Do I need to be home when you drop it off?
Being home is not required when the spot is marked with a cone, flag or ribbon and any gate is unlocked. The driver calls about 30 minutes ahead and places the unit where you marked.
Can my contractor book the unit for my house?
Your contractor can book, pay and be the site contact. Or you can book it yourself and give the contractor's phone number for the driver's call.
Can I move the unit myself once it is placed?
Moving a unit yourself is not a good idea, because a standard unit weighs about 200 pounds and can tip. Call dispatch, and the driver will reset it on a service or pickup trip.
